Ahn Heeyeon, the second child of the Ahn family, has lived a very normal and very stable life. It's not the story of legends. It's not an epic tale that will be remembered throughout history. It's just the story of a girl born into a middle class family in Seoul, South Korea. It's a normal life, but a happy one. Her father rides the subway every morning to his office downtown while her mother gets the kids out of bed, off to school, then goes to work as well. Though her brother is only five years older he takes care of Heeyeon while their parents are working (along with the help of the grandmas from time to time). Her parents are busy and don't get to spend a lot of time at home, but that's the cost of living in the city with a house and two kids. And even though Heeyeon doesn't get to see her parents very often she's still happy and enjoys the time they do have together.

Eventually her mother would start to take on less hours at the hospital as her father moved up in the company he worked for. This would mean Heeyeon had no excuses for lacking off at school. Under her mothers watchful eye she started to do better and better and actually started to enjoy school and learning. She had always been a rather shy child and putting her full attention into academics was a great distraction. But her parents would worry about Heeyeon and her lack of social skills, leading them to enroll her in various after school classes with other children to help her out. Some things didn't work, a lot of things actually, but she did find success in the sport of swimming and joined her schools band to play the clarinet. Swimming and band really opened Heeyeon up to a world outside her textbooks, her shyness fading as she learned to make friends.

As she grew older, it was clear to see that the shy and timid girl she had once been was long gone. Her outgoing personality had completely taken over by the time she entered high school. Feeling confident in herself, Heeyeon decided she wanted to try studying abroad for a year in China to expand her horizons. Her parents agreed, since she had the grades for it, and for a year she lived in a dorm in Shanghai. During that time she would probably do more playing than actually studying, learning how to handle her booze and party like the best of them, all the while playing the perfect daughter role. When she came home from China it was harder to get away with partying and fooling around since her parents were always watching but she managed the best she could, though she got caught more by her brother than her parents.

Her days of drinking and smoking and skipping school only lasted for so long...kind of anyway. It would be her brother who would provide the wake up call she needed. Drinking and having fun was fine, just don't let it get in the way of having a successful future. Between her time in China and high school graduation, Heeyeon started to focus more on getting into a good university and figuring out what she wanted to do with her life. In her grand plans for her future she hadn't written down join a sorority, but it looked like fun, so she joined Zeta Tau Alph on a whim. Turns out being in a sorority was a pretty great move.

  • Though her real name is Heeyeon, she prefers if people called her Hani. It's been her nickname since was young and will rarely respond if someone uses her real name (unless you are her parents or somehow related to her)
  • When she was young her parents encouraged her to try a variety of things to see what her interests were and what she was talented at. Ballet was a bust, guitar didn't quite stick, and singing was better left for in the shower. The two things that stuck with her were swimming and playing the clarinet. She's still competitive in swimming and is a member of the swim club at Yonsei, but she leaves playing the clarinet for her own enjoyment now rather than to win medals and trophies.
  • Yes, she wears a curler in her hair a lot. Maintaining that bounce and curl when you have bangs is very important.
  • A fan of crime movies/television shows and thrillers. The more over the top and dramatic the better. She also takes playing any game like Clue or Mafia very seriously.
  • Despite her looks and how she acts (sometimes), she's actually quite smart. People are often surprised to learn that she's good at maths and science. Maybe if her parents had pushed her harder she would have been some kind of child prodigy? Okay not that smart. ">
  • Often gets called a 'tomboy' for her boyish fashion choices and behavior. She gets scolded a lot by her mother for sitting with her legs open, burping at the dinner table (even if she says excuse me), and speaking too bluntly.
  • In her spare time she likes to learn about mythology and different kinds of folklore. Greek, Roman, Korean, Celtic, any kind that she can get her hands on. Her collection of books about Gods and fairies takes over her bookshelf, and her interest spills over into her choice of video games and movies. While she reads about myths and magical creatures it doesn't mean she believes in them...unless she's had a bit too much to drink and then she might go hunting for trolls and goblins.
  • Due to her time abroad in China she speaks the language fluently and speaks decent English as well. She doesn't get to practice much here in Korea so she might be a little rusty at times, but she's always willing to pick up either language again.
